Itinerary:
Day 1 - Thursday. South shore spectacles.
As soon as all parties have shown up we get out of town. There are many great photo opportunities as we drive by the south shore. Waterfalls, glaciers, farmlands, lava and desert. We pass Eyjafjallajökull volcano on the way. We’ll visit a small museum showing footages of the 2010 Eyjafjallajökull eruption. After dark it’s a straight drive to Skaftafell national Park by Vatnajökull glacier.
Three nights at Skaftafell national park hotel or equivalent.
Day 2 - Friday. Skaftafell national park.
Skaftafell has many short hikes which lead us to treasures begging to be photographed. Svartifoss waterfall is one we cannot miss. It’s a 40 meter drop off basalt columnar rock. This wonder is often compared to a natural gothic cathedral. It’s one of the icons of Icelandic landscape. It’s a wonderful hike full of photo opportunities. After noon you’ll walk to one of the advancing glaciers to put your feet on solid ice. One can feel the immensity of Iceland’s highest peak towering above the landscape. Workshop in the evening. We also keep an eye out for the northern lights.
---
Day 3 - Saturday. Glacier lagoon.
Sunrise at Jökulsárlón. One can linger on for a whole day by this majestic lake. It’s by many considered a crown jewel of Iceland and if done right makes an eye popping piece of art for the world audience to admire. We go on a boat trip amongst floating icebergs. Sometimes there are seals basking on the ice. The shore of the north Atlantic ocean is full of icebergs rolling back and forth on the beach. We get our self prepared for sunset picture from Ingólfshöfði. A rock formation with exceptional views of the realm of Vatnajökull. Workshop in the evening.
---
Day 4 - Sunday. Contrast of Iceland.
After breakfast we head back to Reykjavík. This time we have the whole day in front of us. There are endless photo-opportunities in our route. We check out the black sandy beach by Dyrhólaey and Reynisdrangar. We shoot advancing glacier by Sólheimajökull and then jump on snowmobiles for about an hour. We pass several waterfalls on the way. Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss. The sheer diversity of the landscape is simply mind boggling. We’ll dine in a wonderful fish restaurant right next to the black sandy beach on our way back
